2026 is already shaping up to be a landmark year for film and media in Canada and we’re only two months in.
From major industry milestones to new initiatives launching across the country, this year feels like a real turning point. As the world’s largest public film festival prepares for its next chapter, Toronto International Film Festival gears up for the launch of TIFF: The Market (September 10-16), while other incredible festivals continue to celebrate decades of championing Canadian voices as well.
This year is also full of meaningful anniversaries. Canadian Film Festival (Mar 24-29) celebrates its 20th anniversary, and Reel Asian International Film Festival marks 30 years of amplifying Asian cinema in Canada - huge milestones and powerful reminders of how far our industry has come.
