TIFF season is here and this year the story extends well beyond the red carpet. Between a brand-new industry market, a wave of Canadian shorts, and ticket sales opening in days, here's what's worth your attention right now.

TIFF 2026: Start Planning Your Festival

The 51st Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 10–20, and the complete screening schedule is now available. Public ticket sales are open, so now is the time to shortlist the films, premieres, and industry conversations most relevant to your creative goals. View the full schedule.

TIFF: The Market Makes Its Debut

Running from September 10-16, the inaugural TIFF: The Market will bring film, television, and innovation professionals together for financing, sales, partnerships, and international business opportunities. The Directors Guild of Canada has also selected eight filmmakers for a dedicated TIFF Market delegation, creating stronger pathways for Canadian projects seeking financing and industry connections. Canadian Shorts Take the Spotlight

Canadian filmmakers account for 20 of the 45 projects selected for TIFF’s 2026 Short Cuts programme. It is a strong reminder that short films remain an important platform for emerging voices and a powerful calling card when approaching festivals, producers, collaborators, and funders.
